Managing Owner Jorge Mas - “It’s a dream come true"
Ahead of Nu Stadium’s historic opener this weekend, the pitch at our new state-of-the-art home has already been broken in by our First Team players. On Thursday afternoon, Inter Miami CF stepped onto the pristine Bermudagrass installed at Nu Stadium for the first time to carry out a training session prior to welcoming Austin FC this Saturday, April 4 (7:30 p.m. ET kick off, Apple TV).
For several of the players, this moment represents the realization of the dream they envisioned for years during their time as rising stars in our Academy, as they will now have the opportunity to represent their hometown Club week in and week out in the heart of Miami. Below we present the reactions of some of our Homegrowns, as well as from co-owner Jorge Mas and head coach Javier Mascherano, following the first-ever training session at Nu Stadium.
Comments from the Protagonists
Managing Owner Jorge Mas
“With the opening just a couple of days away, it’s a dream come true. This stadium was born from a dream: to create a top-class stadium in my hometown where we could celebrate football… I think there’s going to be a fantastic atmosphere on Saturday, and I want it to be an experience that everyone enjoys.”
Head Coach Javier Mascherano
“The stadium is top-notch. The pitch is excellent for playing, and the locker rooms and all the team facilities are impressive. Now it’s time for us to start enjoying it, and above all, to inaugurate it in the best way possible with a victory.”
Homegrown Defender Noah Allen
“Once you stepped out there it was an incredible feeling, it was unbelievable. It was cool to see the setup, how close the fans are and envisioning the stadium being full. It was a great feeling to be out there today and I’m excited for Saturday”.
Homegrown Midfielder Santi Morales
“To finally see the stadium in person and see it be a reality is what struck me the most. We’ve been waiting for this stadium for a long time, and now that we have it, it’s time to enjoy it.”
Homegrown Midfielder Alex Shaw
“It’s a dream. Coming from the Academy and being here for so long, knowing about the new stadium being built, it was super cool being able to go into the locker room and the stadium with my teammates. To be able to visualize this since I was young, and being able to see it come to fruition is amazing. I’m just living the dream.”
Homegrown Midfielder David Ruiz
“Having the stadium in the heart of Miami is important…. Now fans have the stadium close to home, which will help create a great atmosphere at games. It’s something we’re happy about and we can’t wait to experience that moment.”
Homegrown Attacker Daniel Pinter
“It was a surreal moment. Being from the Academy and walking out into the stadium we have now, alongside the kids I grew up playing with was amazing. We always imagined having a home in Miami, and it's crazy to be here for the first time.”
